ABOUT
Located in the sun-soaked coastal town of Estepona, designed by the team at Chata ID, the space breaks away from standard, sterile minimalism. Instead, it introduces a rich palette of colors, striking botanical wall murals, and an abundance of natural materials. From tactile fabrics and woven textures to warm wood tones and organic stone decor, every corner of this property feels intentionally curated, artistic, and deeply connected to nature.
GOAL
For an interior designer, a visual portfolio is everything. The objective of this editorial photoshoot was to capture the unique, colorful soul of the space. The photography needed to highlight the high-quality natural materials, the bold artistic choices, and the seamless flow between the cozy indoor living areas and the lush, plant-filled outdoor terraces.
CHALLENGES
Unlike standard property photography, capturing high-end interior design requires a meticulous understanding of atmosphere. My service always includes a dedicated pre-shoot scouting visit. By walking through the Estepona apartment before the actual shoot day, I was able to carefully track the sun's trajectory. This planning phase is crucial, it allows us to schedule the photoshoot for the exact moments when the natural light is at its absolute peak in each specific room.
STRATEGY
Thanks to this careful planning, the visual strategy was to let the sun do the heavy lifting. Instead of flattening the beautiful design with artificial flash, I fully embraced dynamic, directional sunlight. I focused on how the light interacted with the designer's choices, capturing the striking, moody shadows of palm fronds dancing across the outdoor sofa, the warm rays illuminating the colorful canvas art, and the soft light brushing against the louvered wardrobe doors.
RESULTS
The result serves as a powerful portfolio piece for the interior designer. By prioritizing pre-production planning and authentic natural light, the images feel warm, dynamic, and incredibly inviting. It’s a visual story that doesn't just document a room, but captures the exact lifestyle and mood the designer intended to create.
